Piazza Duomo
Like many Italian cities, Cefalù has a cathedral square that’s absolutely beautiful. While you can go anytime of day, if you go in the morning you can enjoy a beautiful start to the day before things get too crowded. Try Osteria del Duoma and enjoy a coffee and cornetto, the Italian answer to croissants, the ones are absolutely huge.
Parco De La Rocca
For a truly fantastic viewpoint, you can put your walking shoes on and hike up La Rocca, which is a 767 foot climb, and without sugarcoating it, the path is not the best. However, the view you’ll be greeted with at the end is absolutely worth it. You can also visit the Tempio di Diana temple.
Piazza Garibaldi
This quietly stunning piazza is a great place to enjoy a slow afternoon, la dolce vita style. For delicious gelato, visit Antica Porta Terra Gelateria, where you can sample the famous brioche con gelato, the brioche bun filled with gelato (yes, you read that right) that’s often even enjoyed for breakfast. Try the pistachio ice cream, it’s divine. You can also enjoy a drink here before or after your La Rocca climb.
Cefalù Beach
What’s a visit to Cefalù without spending time in the glimmeringly blue beach? Cefalù Beach is one of the most popular beaches to visit, with good reason. You can dip in the water, with the temperature staying nice even up until the end of October. Some adventurous people even go in November. There are a few lidos on this beach, where you can rent an umbrella and two loungers for the day.
Lavatoio Medievale
Along the beaches of Cefalù, you’ll find this medieval washhouse that will give you a glimpse into Sicilian life in the medieval times. It features 22 cast iron mouths, 15 of which are shaped like lion heads, and can be found throughout the washhouse. It was once the location where washerwomen would do laundry using special tubs on the premises. A truly fascinating look into the past.
